An ode to my favourite cafe in Copenhagen

Apotek 57

Breakfast on a quiet Sunday morning before the rush. Lunch outside on a sunny Thursday. An afternoon coffee while reading a book at the window seat. I love to spend any moment of the week at Apotek 57, a small eatery in the middle of Copenhagen’s most orange coloured neighbourhood.

In October 2020 the Italian chef Chiara Barla opened her kitchen inside the design shop FRAMA, a fusion that is a pleasure for all senses. You can find a fine selection of pastry, delicate breakfasts and lunches and homemade products to bring home. Everything is seasonal and focusses on a farm-to-table approach.

The food is finger-licking, but what I love the most about Apotek 57 is the atmosphere. In this neighbourhood eatery locals come for their weekly chat and new faces are given the most heartwarming welcome from the cheerful staff. There’s a constant flow of people coming and going for a takeaway bolle med ost or a lunch inside FRAMA’s universe. The tables of Apotek 57 are never empty, yet I always find my calm here.
